RENOVATE | Choose paint like an interior designer Choose paint like an interior designer Struggling to make your paint choices and want to make your selections like a pro? Here’s how…1 | SWATCHES Use a paint fan deck or swatches from your local paint supplier or hardware store to narrow down a selection of colours.⠀⠀2 | SAMPLE POTS Buy sample pots of your selected colours rather than making your final choice from swatches. Try and restrict yourself to 2-4 colours to begin with, don’t overwhelm yourself!⠀⠀3 | WALL SWATCH Paint a large (A3-ish) swatch on a wall or a spare piece of plaster on site (so you can move it around). Have the sample in a position where you can observe it throughout the day to see how it changes with the daylight as colour changes dramatically in different lights.⠀⠀4 | GO WITH YOUR GUT Alternatively if that isn’t working eliminate the colours that you definitely don’t want to narrow down the list of what you do want!⠀⠀5 | EXPERTS If in doubt or you don’t have the time, scrap the above 4 steps and bring in the big guns. Paint companies like @duluxaus and @haymespaint provide colour consultant services that will take you through this process. The cost is often redeemable on product, making it cost neutral so it’s a no brainer. ⠀⠀All my projects incorporate colour consulting services so my clients and I can be sure we are getting the best possible colour choices for their home.
