Founded in 2016, in Melbourne by interior designer Emily MacAlpine, MARG.Studio came home to central NSW, in 2020, settling in the heart of Orange.
At MARG.Studio we design spaces for a long time of comfortable, laid-back living.
We’re not interested in disposable design or creating spaces that are simply on trend. We design with timeless, tasteful aesthetic in mind and create functional spaces to endure and adapt for the generations to come.
At MARG.Studio we have a soft spot for architecture and homes with a history. We design with respect to the past but we understand how to bring these homes back to suit your contemporary lifestyle and continue on with a lifetime of new stories to tell.
We love working with the makers, creators and master tradespeople. If we can support the local and like-minded artisans who work with their hands to bring something unique and special to your space, we’ll do it. It’s always a great conversation starter and connects you and your home to your community.

Meet Emily…
A country girl obsessed with floor plans, the smell of angle grinders and homes with historical charm.
Working with MARG.Studio means you’ll be working closely with Emily. You’re going to get to know each other very well and you’re going to have some fun along the way. Emily loves her day job and her energy and enthusiasm for design is contagious.
The MARG.Studio approach to design stems from Emily's childhood, growing up on a sheep property in North West, New South Wales, surrounded by three grandparents, all living close by and each with a unique set of skills to pass on.
Emily’s grandmother, Margaret or ‘Marg’ was a true creative and doer from a generation known for resourcefulness. Emily spent many days with Marg and when she wasn’t chasing after Emily in her roller blades, they were baking, sewing or packing a lunch to go paint by the creek together. There’s no doubt where Emily's passion for making and creating comes from.
Emily’s grandparents’ generation have seen everything from mail and milk being delivered with a horse and sulky, to iPhones. Yet, one thing remained constant: their ‘waste not, want not’ and ‘buy once, buy well’ attitudes.
MARG.Studio embodies the values of Emily’s grandparents and is driven by the notion of ‘design once, design well’.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Design (Architecture) from the University of Sydney, Emily went on to complete a Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration with The International School of Colour and Design (ISCD). After working with one of Sydney’s leading architectural firms Emily indulged her love of art, working with renowned art consultant, Love Art. Emily is a design educator with some of Australia’s leading design schools and loves to share her knowledge of design and art directly with her clients, and through her MARG.Studio workshops.
When she’s not at the design desk, she’s restoring furniture found on Facebook marketplace or spending time or working with her family around the family farm and trying to get the perfect sunset shot.
